Colin Chapman of the Los Gatos Tigers had a day that would even make his ball-toting counterpart at Los Gatos High School, Dennis Freeman, stand up and take notice.
Chapman ran for 144 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Tigers to a 32-6 win over the Daly City Titans in recent Los GatosSaratoga Pop Warner Football play.
The Tigers, 3-0 for the year, broke open a scoreless game with three touchdowns in the second quarter, and they went on to turn a 20-0 halftime lead into a 32-6 victory.
Chapman led the offensive attack with his rushing totals, and he also completed a pair of passes, one to Eric Reichwein for 16 yards.
Will Sparks and Robert Wright ran for touchdowns in the win, and Sparks added a two-point conversion kick.
Jermel Ladd had a quarterback sack among his seven tackles to lead the Tigers defensively. Sparks was in on six tackles, Garrett Irizarry and David Karnes got in on four apiece and Trevor Ross had three. The Tigers held the Titans to just 73 yards of total offense.
In other action the same day, the Panthers blanked Daly City 14-0 and the Cougars rolled 18-0.
Chris LaBouff and Nick Miller each ran for touchdowns to lead the Panthers to their third win of the season.
Kevin Kephart was the team's leading passer, and Trevor Vlay was the top receiver.
Defensive ends J.A. DeBeer and A.J. Luft put pressure on the opposing quarterback, and pass coverage by Alex Estrada, Sean Whalen, Miller, Kephart, Andre Romine, Vlay and Taylor Stephens led to five quarterback sacks. It was the third shutout of the year for the Panthers defense.
It was the second straight shutout for the Los Gatos Cougars in their 18-0 win over Daly City.
Thomas Reynolds starred in the secondary with a pair of pass interceptions and a pass deflection. Ends Ryan Van Amburg and Sam Scudellari were also defensive standouts, and Nick Smith forced a fumble that Kamron Fariba recovered.
Robbie Comeau (60-yard run), Nick Kalpine (45-yard run) and Nick Scudellari (40-yard run) each scored touchdowns in the win, and Chris Frost and Julian Khanzada blocked well in the offensive line.
On a sad note, Bo Nielson, a talented strong safety and running back, suffered a broken collarbone and is out for the season.
A day earlier, the Wildcats dropped a tough 14-0 decision to Coyote Creek to slip to 1-2 in the young season.
Coyote scored late in the first half following a blocked punt, then added an insurance score late in the game.
Will Kapp was the leading ground gainer for the Wildcats, and he also led the club in tackles. Chad Bannan and Dustin Wynne also ran well for the Cats.
Anthony Ladd was another defensive leader for the Wildcats. Louis Santoro intercepted a pass, and Kellan Barker and Bannan each forced fumbles.
