Longtime Los Gatan Vava M. Callison died Sept. 30 at the age of 81.

Born Feb. 16, 1921, in Butte, Mont., Callison lived in Los Gatos for 50 years. She was a homemaker, dedicated to raising her three sons. Among her interests were reading, shopping and playing cards with her friends at the Los Gatos Senior Center.

Callison was preceded in death by her husband, Donald J. Callison, in 1987. Survivors include son Wayne Callison of San Jose; sons and daughters-in-law John and Mary Callison of Altus, Okla., and Don Callison and André Gardiner of American Canyon; and grandchildren Hannah and Benjamin Callison, both of American Canyon.
