Volunteers are needed to help clean town
Los Gatos plans to hold a parks and trails cleanup event on Saturday, Oct. 12, from 9 a.m. to noon. The event is the first of several volunteer projects that the town is planning for October and November. Other events include bulb and seed planting.
The town is looking for individuals, families and community organizations to help with the cleanup. To volunteer or for information, contact Mary Gillespie-Greenberg at 408.399.5776.
Oct. 21 is the deadline to register to vote
Those interested in voting in the Nov. 5 general election must be registered to vote by Oct. 21.
Registration cards are available at U.S. post offices, public libraries, city and county offices, the Department of Motor Vehicles and the Registrar of Voters, 1555 Berger Drive, Building 2, San Jose. Los Gatans can pick up cards and register with the Los Gatos Town Clerk's office at town hall, 110 E. Main St. Forms are also available at the registrar's website, www.sccvote.org/Register.htm, or by calling 408.299.VOTE. Online registration is also available at the above website.
Grand opening for children's medical center
TThe South Bay Children's Medical Center is celebrating its grand opening with a health and safety fair Oct. 12. The medical center, located behind McDonald's on Los Gatos Boulevard, has an urgent care clinic that will open sometime this month.
The opening, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., will feature emergency personnel and vehicles, nutrition and other fitness information, and other programs.
