Loma Prieta fills board
The Loma Prieta Joint Union Elementary School District will not be holding elections for its school board this year. Three seats were available this term, with only two applicants for the positions. Bill Chiochicci is a current member and will be renewing his stay on the board. Julie Gouldsberry will be the new addition to the board. The third position is still open, and will be filled by appointment of the board in December.
Moitozo heads to Texas
Los Gatos resident Madeline Moitozo was accepted into and is currently attending Southern Methodist University in Texas. She is one of 1,380 first-year students attending the private university this fall.
Los Gatans college bound
Universities and colleges within the state and around the country should brace themselves, because Los Gatos graduates are invading campuses in record numbers. The Los Gatos High School class of 2002 has an impressive 98 percent of its graduates going on to college this year. According to school data, 65 percent of graduates are onto four-year colleges, and 33 percent are headed to two-year colleges. Top choices included UC-Santa Barbara, Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, UC-Berkeley, West Valley College and De Anza College.
