Monte Sereno considers friendship cities
Jack Lucas, mayor of Monte Sereno, has written letters to two cities asking them to partner with Monte Sereno in forming friendship relationships. The cities are Athy, in County Kildare, Ireland, and Friday Harbor, in the state of Washington.
Councilman Erin Garner said he often visits Friday Harbor and feels that the city is similar to Monte Sereno. Councilwoman Barbara Nesbet had advocated Athy in the past, but the town failed to respond to Monte Sereno's requests for a sister city relationship. The city council decided that a friendship city relationship would be more appropriate, as that status has fewer requirements than that of sister city.
Animal clinic offering pet licenses, shots
The Silicon Valley Animal Control Authority is having a pet licensing and rabies vaccination clinic Oct. 26, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., for all residents of its member cities, including Los Gatos and Monte Sereno.
Licenses must be purchased at the time of vaccination, and proof of alteration (spay or neuter) must be brought. Dogs must be brought to the clinic on leashes and cats in carriers. To save time, print the animal license application off the Internet at www.svaca.com and bring it filled out to the clinic.
The clinic is located at 1405 Civic Center Drive in Santa Clara. For more information, call 408.261.5401.
