The Prowler
As usual, the Prowler has a full plate—or would that be cat food bowl—of interesting events to meow about!

Anything benefiting animals is tops on this feline's list, and that includes a $5 rabies vaccination clinic on Oct. 26 just for pet owners in Los Gatos, Monte Sereno, Saratoga, Campbell, Cupertino and Santa Clara. Apparently these are the municipalities over which the Silicon Valley Animal Control Authority has authority—sorry for that redundancy!

The clinic runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1405 Civic Center Drive in Santa Clara. All dogs must be leashed; all cats must be in carriers. Pet owners must bring written proof that their furry friends have been spayed or neutered to qualify for the discounted vaccination. Animals must also be licensed. For all the details, call 408.261.5401 or visit www.svaca.com.

October also happens to be Adopt-a-Dog Month, and the nonprofit Humane Society of Santa Clara Valley is full of canines of all ages and personalities who need good homes. Propitiously enough, the Humane Society is also in Santa Clara! For directions or more information, give them a jingle at 408.727.3383 or visit www.scvhumane.org.

Speaking of animals, this next event is a horse of a completely different color! Martino's Interiors at 111 N. Santa Cruz Ave. is hosting a reception for artist Katherine Myers McBride on Oct. 25 from 5 to 8 p.m. and invites the community to come and see her latest works on canvas and paper. McBride has been painting wildlife, human figures and botanical subjects for the past 25 years and works in the mediums of oil, watercolor and charcoal. She's also a graduate of the fine arts program at San Josˇ State University.
