Hikers on the Los Gatos Creek Trail discovered a Los Gatos man hanging by his neck last week.
Four 17-year-old hikers reported that they had seen a man, possibly dead, near Vasona Lake Dam on the afternoon of Nov. 14. They said the man was hanging by his neck from a rope tied to a pedestrian bridge on the dam. When police arrived, they found that the man was dead. He had left a backpack on the bridge with personal items and identification, showing he was 24-year-old Thomas Mollard. Mollard lived in Los Gatos.
Police removed the body and are investigating the case with the county coroner's office. Police said, however, that they have no reason to believe that this was not a suicide.
