Credit Card Theft—Nov. 20, 5:48 p.m. A Callecita resident found that her debit card number had been used at different shopping centers after Nov. 16, with charges totaling $1,258. A clerk in one of the stores where it was used gave the victim a description of the man who had used the card. Since the crimes had occurred in San Jose, Los GatosMonte Sereno police informed the woman about the appropriate law enforcement agencies and advised her to call them.
Missing Person— Nov. 20, 2:17 p.m. A Euclid Avenue woman who had struggled with alcoholism in the past called her mother in Utah. The woman said she had caused enough problems and would see her mother on the other side. Police contacted the woman's husband, who said he had their children with him and his wife was alone at home. Police went to the house, where they found a friendly German shepherd but no woman. They were also told that the woman had possibly wanted to jump off a bridge. The report was listed as a missing person and possibly an attempted suicide.
Theft— Nov. 19, 4:26 p.m. Witnesses saw a person come from a Jeep and remove a wooden stork display from the front yard of a home. The Jeep was located in front of Los Gatos High School. Police tracked down the owners of the car and called them to ask where on campus their son was. The mother arrived and went with her son to return the display to its owner.
Suspicious Person— Nov. 18, 4:56 p.m. A "pushy solicitor" without a permit went to a residence on Winchester Boulevard. The man left on northbound Winchester and then went to a home on Winchester and Vineland Avenue, ringing on the doorbell and banging on the front door. Police were contacted by two separate parties about the solicitor, but he was gone by the time they arrived.
Pipe Gun—Nov. 18, 4:52 p.m. A group of teenage boys were at Blossom Hill Park using a pipe gun to shoot projectiles. Police confronted the four 14- and 15-year-olds, advising them not to use their potato launcher.
Theft—Nov. 18, 4:36 p.m. The alarm at a Los Gatos Boulevard drugstore went off. Store employees said a man had set the alarm off; nobody had seen him steal anything, but he had not purchased any items with security tags. They agreed to call police if the man returned.
False Identification—Nov. 18, 4:29 p.m. Police arrested a man at a N. Santa Cruz Avenue drugstore. The 31-year-old was charged with having false identification. Police originally thought there were two warrants for his arrest: a no-bail warrant from San Francisco police for failure to appear and a $500 warrant from San Jose police for inhaling a toxic substance. They could not confirm that the warrants were for that individual, however.
Drunk in Public—Nov. 18, 2:27 p.m. A N. Santa Cruz Avenue resident had a man stay at her house over the weekend to care for her cat while she was gone. When she returned, the man refused to leave. She told police he had been in a hospital for detox and hadn't stopped drinking since he got out. Police arrested him for being drunk in public.
