Records released by the Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters indicate that the top three vote-getters in the Los Gatos Town Council race kept their leads across most of the polling places in town.
Mike Wasserman's vow to canvass all the neighborhoods in town paid off, as he took the lead in all but two of the 23 polling places. Those were the Los Gatos Neighborhood Center, where Diane McNutt placed first and incumbent Joe Pirzynski took second, and Calvary Church, where Pirzynski was first and McNutt second.
McNutt lives on Jackson Street, near the neighborhood center, and Pirzynski on Los Gatos Boulevard, near both the neighborhood center and the church.
Wasserman and McNutt received the same amount of votes from those who were registered to vote from The Terraces of Los Gatos.
For the most part, McNutt retained her position as second top vote-getter and Pirzynski as third.
Pirzynski said he was not going to canvass neighborhoods but instead focused on sending out last-minute mailings.
Paul Dubois, who ultimately did not win a seat on the council, took third, replacing Pirzynski, four times: from Wedgewood Avenue area residents; from those voting at the Los Gatos United Methodist Church; in downtown Los Gatos; and from Rinconada Hills voters. Dubois lives in the La Rinconada area.
Dubois also tied with Barry Bakken for third at Blossom Hill School. The school was the only location at which Bakken broke into the top three.
Dubois held a series of coffees throughout the community as part of his campaign strategy. Dubois was also thought to have the support of the senior community, since he had rallied for a senior coordinator while on the town's community services commission.
