Television show featuring LG moves to Dec. 12

Evening Magazine will feature Los Gatos in a short segment on its Thursday, Dec. 12, edition. The program was originally to air Dec. 9 but was postponed.

The show worked with the Town of Los Gatos Chamber of Commerce and filmed a tour of the historic downtown area Dec. 5, following the route of the Chamber's carriage ride. Evening Magazine is aired on KPIX Channel 5 starting at 7 p.m.

Council denies request to chop down cedar tree

The Los Gatos Town Council on Dec. 2 rejected a Wilder Avenue resident's tree removal application, upholding a prior planning commission denial. The resident, Gary Zelasko, had wanted to remove a deodar cedar of almost 60 inches in diameter. Zelasko said the tree endangered his children and said he felt there were several inconsistencies in arborists' reports and town staff opinions.

The council, however, said the tree was not in "imminent danger of falling" and told Zelasko that safety could be increased with proper maintenance. Council voted 4-1 to deny the appeal, with Vice Mayor Steve Glickman dissenting.
