The Prowler
One of the Prowler's favorite holiday traditions is back for its fourth year, and it's better than ever! That event is, of course, the Fantasy of Lights, which takes place every night through Dec. 31 from 6 to 10 p.m. at Vasona Lake County Park.

Among the 30 holiday-themed, multicolored light displays are several new additions: Happy the Fisherman, a "snow family" and a group of Victorian Christmas carolers. Among this cat's favorites are displays that incorporate Vasona Park's own living trees and the illuminated archways under which people drive their cars. Some displays even give the simulation of animation! As always, visitors can tune their car radios to a certain frequency to pick up holiday music being broadcast from within the park. And don't forget the holiday treats and hot beverages for sale!

The Fantasy of Lights is a joint project between the Santa Clara County Parks and Recreation Department and the Silicon Valley Parks Foundation. The latter is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to raise funds and support for the 28 parks our county is lucky enough to call its own. Ticket prices vary, depending on the night of the week and the number of passengers per vehicle. There's also a discount for holiday-decorated cars on Thursday nights! For all the details, call 408.355.2200 or visit www.parkhere.org.

Speaking of holiday cheer, local Girl Scout Service Unit 10 is holding a gift-wrapping party on Dec. 13 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, located at 15885 Los GatosAlmaden Road. All gifts will be given to South Bay homeless shelters. To donate gifts, supplies or time, send an email to pat_su10@hotmail.com.
