The Prowler
"It's the most wonderful time of the year!" The song of the same title has been going through the Prowler's head like wildfire lately, but that's not surprising, seeing as there are so many cool things happening during December.

One of them is an interfaith service, called "The Longest Night," being held Dec. 24 at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Los Gatos, located at 15980 Blossom Hill Road. The service, which begins at 5 p.m., includes prayers, inspirational readings, music and reflection time.

The service is affiliated with the Los Gatos Interfaith Outreach and is open to people of all religious creeds. It's particularly geared toward folks dealing with loss, depression or loneliness during the holiday season. Child care is provided. For more information, call Minister Erika Hewitt at 408.358.1212.

The Prowler just learned that a large number of Los Gatos artists—some from the valley, some from the mountains—are exhibiting down the road in Saratoga in two beautiful holiday exhibits. One, called "Dreams of December," is up through Dec. 29 at Gallery Saratoga, located at 14435-A Big Basin Way. The other, "Illuminations," is at Aegis Gallery of Fine Art, 14531 Big Basin Way and runs through Jan. 6.

Both are comprised of an amazing array of creative expressions, many of them suited to holiday gift-giving. They include paintings, collages, ceramics, photography, blown glass, stained glass, jewelry, turned-wood vessels, handmade paper, macramé and metalwork. This cat thinks the shows are well worth the hop, skip and jump down Highway 9 to Saratoga!
