High school district names new officers

The Los Gatos­Saratoga Joint Union High School District has elected new officers for its board of trustees. Phil Nielsen was elected to serve as president, with Jackie Schmidt-Posner elected vice president. Ron Adolphson was selected as clerk and district Superintendent Cynthia Ranii as secretary.


Inverness essay contest is 'All Ears'

Inverness Corporation, which produces fashion jewelry and ear piercing systems, is holding its third annual "Inverness is all ears contest." The nationwide contest asks students to answer the prompt, "Write about what you would tell someone special, famous or not, if you 'had their ear.' " Essays must be 150 words or less. Construction to continue at local schools

Although students at Van Meter Elementary and Fisher Middle School will be on break Dec. 23­Jan. 6, construction crews will not. The district anticipates crews to continue working through the holiday period at Van Meter, while preparations for construction will begin at Fisher. The construction company will relocate fences, move in construction trailers and prep the area for building. Modernization and construction work is expected to begin Jan. 6, 2003.


Constantin, Lucas new officers

The West Valley­Mission Community College board of trustees has elected their new president and vice president. Former Vice President Chris Constantin was unanimously voted in as the president. Newly elected trustee Jack Lucas was unanimously selected to be vice president of the board.
