'Tis the night before Christmas, and inside our place, the staff members have definitely slowed down the pace;
not a mouse is stirring with the computers shut down, the writing's been checked out, each adverb and noun.
We're just a day removed from our deadline day
when staffers were dashing in a hectic way;
there were pictures to take, there were stories to write,
so everyone worked well into the night.
I sat in my office, set to make that call,
which for one more week would put a wrap on it all;
'cause even through Christmas was drawing so near,
we still had a paper that we had to clear.
We couldn't let a holiday get in the way
of getting the news out to you today;
so we're here on your doorstep with a
paper brand new, thanks to the efforts of our
talented crew.
The features are covered by Shari and Sandy,
both doing their best to make that news dandy;
Gloria, Mandy and Linh cover the news,
with them on the story we know we can't lose.
Mary Ann writes her column with name after name, we're lucky to have such a talented dame;
we can count on DeCinzo to get us all thinking,
(when he goes too far my phone lights start blinking).
Sue writes about restaurants, the cooks and the bakers, Jean follows the real estate movers
and shakers;
senior citizen stories are what Rita writes,
Tony's head's in the trees and the floral delights.
Claire and Nancy sell ads, so does Judy, by golly,
and Michelle does too, with her little dog Molly;
Estelle heads up projects, Elaine checks our grammar, Amy answers the phone calls with nary a stammer.
George takes the pictures all day and at night,
then Tiffani puts things together just right;
downtown we have Shonna and Brendan and Nate,
there's Lisa, Jeannette, and Serge, Jen and Kate.
Dale's the one who keeps us all on the ball, and David's the guy who's in charge of it all;
now it's the night before Christmas, and we're outta here, heading home for a little holiday cheer.
But before we take off and head out of view,
we want you to know that we appreciate you;
so to all of you there, from all of us here,
Merry Christmas, Los Gatos*, and Happy New Year.
*And, of course, Monte Sereno, too!
