Community to discuss streetscape

The town will hold a community meeting on Friday, Jan. 3, from 8 to 9 a.m. to explain and receive public input on phase two of the downtown streetscape project. Sidewalk work and landscaping and lighting improvements will start in April on N. Santa Cruz Avenue, from just south of Highway 9 to just north of Bachman Avenue. Along with N. Santa Cruz, workers will revamp Grays Lane, widening sidewalks and narrowing the street. The meeting is geared toward merchants whose businesses will be impacted by the work.

A second meeting will be held on Friday, Jan. 10, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Both are in the Los Gatos Town Council chambers at 110 E. Main St. For more information, call 408.399.5770.

Library to be closed on Sunday

Due to a boiler replacement project in the entire Los Gatos Civic Center, the Los Gatos Library will be closed on Sunday, Jan. 5. Patrons using the library on Friday and Saturday are also encouraged to dress warmly, as there will be no heater running in the building. Library temperatures will not be "uncomfortably cold" until Sunday, however. The library will open as usual at 10 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 6.

City holds meeting toset goals

The Monte Sereno City Council will set its goals for the upcoming year at a retreat on Tuesday, Jan. 7. The 6 p.m. meeting is open to the public and is at the city council chambers, 18041 SaratogaLos Gatos Road. For more information, call the Monte Sereno City Hall at 408.354.7635.
