Since the beginning of a new year is traditionally the time to "turn over a new leaf," the Prowler would like to share a New Year's resolution idea that not only is easy to keep but is also enjoyable and very useful!
"Life Stories" is a 12-week course—much more than a simple memoir class—led by Sheila Dunec in which participants of all ages learn how to create a written record of their past for future generations; record their families' oral stories; delve into their cultural heritage; and gain a new understanding of the significance of their personal histories and life experiences.
Dunec, who has more than 20 years of teaching and counseling experience at Foothill Community College, will lead two sections of Life Stories, both of which run from Jan. 6 through March 24. The first takes place from 10 a.m. to noon; the second is 1 to 3 p.m. Both are at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Los Gatos, 15980 Blossom Hill Road. The cost for the series is $120. For more information, call 650.324.9937.
Despite the fact that most cats have an affinity for seafood, this finicky feline doesn't always like it. However, the Los Gatos Rotary Club's Jan. 18 Crab Feed in the St. Mary's Parish Hall sounds so good, the Prowler might just show up!
Admission is $30 for adults and $15 for kids 12 and under; wine and beer cost extra. Proceeds benefit the Los Gatos Charities Foundation, one of the community groups the Rotary Club supports. To reserve a spot at the table, call 408.370.1674.
