The Prowler
With all the photo-snapping going on over Christmas and New Year's, the Prowler suspects some folks might not ever want to see a camera again! Then again, there are other folks who are just getting started, having received cameras as holiday gifts.

Whatever relationship readers have with those little "picture boxes"—from amateur to professional—the Los GatosSaratoga Camera Club welcomes them with open lenses. The group meets on the first and third Monday of each month at the Presbyterian Church of Los Gatos, located at 16575 Shannon Road.

Competitions are held at the first meeting of each month. Only members can submit photos and slides, but guests are welcome to watch. Categories include color, nature, travel, photojournalism and various assigned topics.

Programs featuring guest speakers take place at the second meeting of the month. The Jan. 20 guests are husband-and-wife photographic team Howard and Lynn Jameson of Saratoga, who specialize in color photographs of birds, landscapes and other scenic images from nature.

Membership is open to anyone. Dues are $35 per year. For more information about the club, call 408.279.4889 or visit http://lgscc.home.att.net/.

Speaking of interesting group events, this cat hopes everyone has already received their Winter 2003 Activities Guide, published by the Los GatosSaratoga Community Education & Recreation Department. As usual, this little magazine is jam-packed with amazing classes, workshops and outings. If it hasn't come yet, it's not too late to pick one up! Just stop by the department's Los Gatos headquarters at 123 E. Main St. or call 408.354.8700.
