Drinking, driving subject of speech by police chief
Los GatosMonte Sereno Police Chief Scott Seaman will be the guest speaker at the West Valley Bar Association's quarterly luncheon on Jan. 24. Seaman will discuss the death of Eric Quesada following a drunk-driving accident Thanksgiving week.
The luncheon will be held at the Hobee's restaurant in the Pruneyard Shopping Center in Campbell. For more information, contact Marcia Kaplan at 408.867.3355. The event starts at noon.
Chamber has updated its publications
The Town of Los Gatos Chamber of Commerce has received its new 2003 business directories and calendars. The directory has community information and listings of businesses that are Chamber members; it is available for $5.
The second annual town calendar is free to residents and can be picked up at the Chamber offices on 349 N. Santa Cruz Ave. Along with the directory and calendar, the Chamber has Los Gatosthemed merchandise and local business information. Call 408.354.9300.
Council fills seat on commission
The town council last week appointed Jocelyn DeGance Graham to the community service commission to replace outgoing commissioner Annette Seaborn-Nystrom, whose term expires this month. DeGance Graham, who has resided in Los Gatos for three years, mentioned in her application a desire to reach out to low-income families, at-risk youth and the elderly. She will serve on the commission until 2006. The town council is also seeking candidates to fill a second seat on the commission.
Dance to be held at center for the elderly
A senior center dance will be held Jan. 22 in the neighborhood center from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., featuring music by the Nob Hill Sounds band. Admission is free, and a light snack will be provided. The neighborhood center is located at 208 E. Main St.
