Since we're in the middle of the month, the Prowler finds it appropriate that two of the following events are in January and one is in February.
First up is the annual half-price clothing sale Jan 1416 at Happy Dragon Thrift Shop, located at 245 W. Main St. It culminates Jan. 17, when shoppers can fill grocery bags with as many sale leftovers as possible—all for $2! If an article doesn't fit in a bag, it's an additional $2. Incidentally, all Happy Dragon proceeds benefit a great cause: EMQ Children & Family Services, a broad-spectrum nonprofit based in Los Gatos and Campbell. For Happy Dragon hours, call 408.354.4072.
That same Friday, from 6 to 8 p.m., the Los Gatos Arts Commission is hosting a reception for new artist Nick White, who is exhibiting through Feb. 21 in the Los Gatos Town Council Chambers. A retired steel worker, the San Jose resident is a member of the Los Gatos Art Association and won first place at a recent group show at the Art Museum of Los Gatos for his canvas of children playing in the Town Plaza's new fountain.
On Feb. 1, the fourth annual Gala Charity Supper takes place at the Rinconada Hills Clubhouse, located at 100 Avenida del Sol. The black tie-optional event includes champagne, dinner, live music, a silent auction and a drawing. Tickets are $40 per person, with all proceeds going to the American Cancer Society's Courageous Kids program, which enables young local cancer patients and their families to spend a free day at Great America every May. For tickets, call 408.374.5750 (days) or 408.370.1127 (nights).
