Town recognizes contributions of auto dealer

Longtime businessman John Moore was recently honored for significantly contributing to the town of Los Gatos through his business, Moore GMC Buick. The "true roots" business, as dubbed by Councilman Joe Pirzynski, first opened on East Main Street in 1951 before relocating to Los Gatos Boulevard in 1967.

"Here you've got a business that's volatile and yet this individual and his family stayed the course, and they continue to contribute," Pirzynski said.

Over the years, the business has generated millions of dollars in sales tax for Los Gatos, according to Marty Woodworth, the town's redevelopment manager. Moore, who was also a spokesman for the auto dealers during the town's discussions on ways to improve Los Gatos Boulevard in the mid-1990s, has been involved with the Chamber of Commerce and belongs to the Lions Club.
