Starbucks to give grants organizations

Starbucks Coffee has begun the third year of its Grants for Giving Program with a goal of supporting 10 nonprofit Bay Area organizations and charitable agencies by awarding various $50,000 and $25,000 grants for a grand total of $375,000.

Each grant recipient will be teamed up with a Starbucks employee who helps recruit and coordinate volunteers to support the organization.

Application forms are available from all Bay Area Starbucks, including locations at 624 Blossom Hill Road in Los Gatos and 12960 N. Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road in Saratoga. The application deadline is Feb. 7. For more information, visit www.starbucks.com/grantsforgiving or call 866.535.GIVE.

Winners will be announced on May 27 on the KTVU Fox 2 Mornings on 2 television program.


Los Gatos photographers shoot to the top

Los Gatos-based photography company Huth & Booth cleaned up at the Professional Photographers of Santa Clara Valley awards banquet this month. Ed Booth earned the recognition of photographer of the year for 2002, as well as "best in show" and top awards in wedding and portrait photography. Partner Betty Huth won awards in portrait and unclassified categories, contributing to a company total of eight awards for the year.
