Row-a-Thon is coming to town for eighth year

The Los Gatos Rowing Club will hold its eighth annual Row-a-Thon fundraiser to benefit high school rowers from all over Santa Clara Valley. This year's goal is to raise $60,000.

The event involves 20 teams of adult and teenage rowers competing to see who can row the farthest on rowing machines. The Rowing Club will also hold a drawing for rowing lessons.

The event will take place at the Town Plaza on Feb. 16 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Mayor to talk to seniors about town services

Los Gatos Mayor Sandy Decker will visit the senior program at 11:30 a.m. on Feb. 19 to talk about existing senior services the town offers and to answer questions.

The senior program is located at the neighborhood center at 208 E. Main St. Participants should call the Live Oak Senior Nutrition Center at 408.354.0707 if interested in making a lunch reservation.

Monte Sereno will revisit zoning ordinance

The Monte Sereno City Council is tentatively scheduled to look at its current zoning ordinances at its Feb. 18 meeting.

Those zoning ordinances include the city's policy on holiday lighting, a frequent item of discussion and complaint from residents, specifically in regard to a Danielle Place home. While Mayor David Baxter says there likely will be no formal action taken, the council will probably discuss the ordinances and give direction to staff.

The meeting starts at 7:30 p.m. at city hall, 18041 SaratogaLos Gatos Road. Call 408.354.7635 to confirm that the item is on the finalized agenda.
