Sixth-graders Matthew Kirwan (left) and Alex Moresco demonstrate their parabolic dish listening device at St. Mary's School's annual science and engineering fair. The fair, held on the morning Feb. 6, was for sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders. Other projects included a student-designed and -built hovercraft; a study of the quality of Los Gatos Creek water; the vitamin C content in specific fruits and vegetables; and the protection of certain materials against UV rays. Some of the students will go on to participate in county and state science fairs. In the past, many from St. Mary's have won top awards at those events.
