Students to host benefit dance show at LGHS

"The Next Step," an evening of dance choreographed by Los Gatos High School students, will be held Thursday and Friday, April 10 and 11, at 7 p.m. in the school's auditorium. Proceeds from the evening will benefit the school's advanced choir Jazz Purr and the art department, which will receive new supplies.

The performance is the highlight of a yearlong dance workshop class led by English teacher and former professional dancer Kathleen Wehr. To purchase tickets or for more information, contact Wehr at 408.354.2730, ext. 305.


Former LGHS runner on fall honor roll

Doug Penner, a 2001 graduate of Los Gatos High School, has been named to the fall 2002 semester chancellor's honor roll at the University of Mississippi.

Penner, a sophomore, was a track and cross country athlete while he attended Los Gatos High. He was awarded a four-year, $32,000 scholarship.


School district starts recycling program

The Los Gatos­Saratoga Union High School District on Aril 1 established a district-wide recycling program, which encourages students and staff to minimize and reuse materials, recycle paper, plastics, metal and glass, and purchase source reduction products. The district will be assited by the California Integrated Waste Management Board. The program was developed by the environmental respect sub-group of the Los Gatos High School Diversity Task Force.
