LGLL events

The Los Gatos Little League will host a pair of special events in the coming weeks.

Little League Day will be held April 26 beginning at 9 a.m. at John Baggerly Field at Blossom Hill Park.

The league will also host a fundraising golf tournament on May 5 at La Rinconada. The event gets under way with a noon shotgun start. For more information, email Dave Burt at dburt@moorevalue.com.


Los Gatos soccer

Registration for the Los Gatos United Soccer League's fall season will be held on April 21, 7­9 p.m., and April 30, 7­8:30 p.m., at Daves Avenue School, and on April 24, 7­8:30 p.m., at Alta Vista School.

The cost is $105 per player, and players must provide a copy of a birth certificate or passport at the registration. Youngsters must have been born between Aug. 1, 1987 and July 31, 1998 to be eligible to participate.

Tennis split

The Los Gatos boys tennis team split in a pair of matches last week, beating Palo Alto in a 4-3 thriller before losing a 4-3 heartbreaker to Monta Vista.

The Cats, 5-3 in the De Anza Division and 17-5 for the year, were led by William McAlister, who won twice at No. 1 singles, and Brian Brogan, who won twice at No. 2.

McAlister and Brogan each won 6-0, 6-0 to lead the Cats to the win over the Vikings. Victor Larssen won 6-1, 6-4 at No. 3 and Patrick Brogan won 7-5, 6-3 at No. 4 to complete a Los Gatos singles sweep.

McAlister won 6-3, 7-6 at No. 1 singles and B. Brogan won 6-2, 7-6 at No. 2, but the Cats lost to the unbeaten Matadors 4-3.

Lee Gerston and Chase Huebner teamed for a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles.


Golfers lose

Patrick Murphy and Nat Henry each came in at four-over par with 34s at the Deep Cliff Golf Course, but Los Gatos dropped a 138-145 decision to Lynbrook.


Cat's Hill

The 29th annual Cat's Hill Criterium will return to Los Gatos on May 10. The event, features many of the nation's best amateur and professional riders.
