The Los Gatos boys volleyball team split a pair of decisions last week, losing a non-league match to St. Francis in five games before sweeping Fremont in league play.
The Wildcats improved to 5-0 in the De Anza Division and to 8-2 overall with a 16-14, 15-4, 15-4 win over Fremont. Shaun Sullivan led the Wildcats with 15 kills. Sullivan also had 13 digs in the win, and Mike Robards led the squad with 14.
Earlier in the week, the Cats went five games before losing to the Lancers 1-15, 3-15, 15-13, 15-8, 15-9. Fletcher Anderson had 18 kills for the Wildcats. Keith Catanese and Robards supported with 13 apiece, and Casey Pfeifer had 34 assists.
The Wildcats will be back on the floor this week for a pair of matches. The Cats were to host Homestead on April 8 (5:30 p.m. junior varsity, 7 p.m. varsity) and will entertain Wilcox on April 10 (6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.).
The junior varsity squad will head south this weekend for the Gilroy Tournament on April 12.
The Gatos JVs whipped Fremont 15-7, 15-7 last week. Head coach Louisa Scoggins singled out Jeff Blue with Chris Renfer for their hitting and Steve Conry for his digging.
The young Cats rolled past St. Francis 15-9, 11-15, 15-7 in non-league play. Cody Stewart had eight kills and Brian Register added seven.
