Superintendent to speak at S.O.S. forums
By Gloria I. Wang
Having kicked off its S.O.S.—Save Our Schools—program, the Los Gatos Union School District plans to hold two more forums to inform the community of the schools' financial crisis.

At forums April 22 at Blossom Hill School and April 25 at Lexington School Superintendent Mary Ann Park will address the current and potential state budget cuts, the impacts on each student and what the district has done and will do to balance the budget for the current and upcoming school year.

Following Park's presentation, a member of the S.O.S. committee will speak about the campaign, a joint effort by the district and the Los Gatos Education Foundation to raise money for programs and staff. S.O.S. aims to raise $1 million by May 23 in $600 donations from families and matching grants from corporations. The money will pay for program initiatives in science, reading and writing, math, and the visual and performing arts; instructional aides; library material and staff; textbooks; and teachers.

Both meetings start at 8:45 a.m. For more information, contact the district office at 408.335.2000.
