Golfers in marathon tourney
By Dick Sparrer
Fred Luminoso and Terence Delaney are planning to go out and play a round of golf on Monday.

So what's so unusual about a couple of guys going to play a little golf? Well, these two guys are planning to play 100 holes on May 5 in the fourth annual Junior Achievement Golf Marathon.

Golfers will tee off at 6:30 a.m. Monday for what figures to be about 13 hours of drives, chips and putts at The Villages Golf Course in the east foothills.

Luminoso, a real estate agent for Alain Pinel, and Delaney, a local orthopedic surgeon, will be joined by volunteer caddies Caroline Delaney, a vice president for Smith Barney, and 12-year-old Joe Young, a student at Hillbrook School.

The twosome will be joined by LaRinconada Country Club pro J.D. Ross and have been working with team coach John Taughinbaugh, a retired podiatrist who is the current club champion at both LaRinconada and Monterey Peninsula Country Club. Both Ross and Taughinbaugh are Los Gatos High School graduates. Taughinbaugh is also a former club champ at San Jose Country Club.

Proceeds from the marathon benefit Junior Achievement of Silicon Valley and Monterey Bay. To pledge support for the local team, call Luminoso at 408.741.1174, ext. 126.
