Los Gatos school district celebrates 140th birthday

The Los Gatos Union School District celebrates its 140th birthday on Sunday, May 18, with a family-oriented event. From noon to 3 p.m., Fisher Middle School will feature games, live music, an art show, academic activities and a historic display. District employees will also be honored at the event, and retired employees and school alumni are invited. Organizations such as Art Docents of Los Gatos, the Los Gatos­Saratoga Department of Community Education and Recreation, the Los Gatos Education Foundation and the Los Gatos­Monte Sereno Police Department will participate in the afternoon's activities.

Baxter is named the humor editor of college paper

Dan Baxter, a 2002 graduate of Bellarmine College Preparatory, has been named as the spring semester humor editor of the Pioneer, the school newspaper at Whitman College in Walla Walla, Wash. Baxter, a freshman, is the son of David and Linda Baxter—mayor of Monte Sereno and children's author, respectively.


LG's Behzadi is on Temple dean's list

Behnoosh Behzadi of Los Gatos has been named to the fall 2002 dean's list at Temple University in Philadelphia, Penn. Behzadi, a junior, is majoring in pharmacy.


Shokrgozar posts a high fall GPA at Emory College

Monte Sereno resident Vali Shokrgozar earned a grade point average of 3.8 or higher in the 2002 fall semester, making the dean's list at Emory College in Atlanta, Ga. Shokrgozar, a junior, graduated from the private Pinewood School in Los Altos Hills. His mother is Monte Sereno resident Teri Lynn Stephenson.
