'Outstanding' pitch
Los GatosSaratoga Girls Softball League opened the 2003 season with all of the fanfare associated with such an event when UC-Berkeley's Jocelyn Forest, the College World Series most outstanding player, stopped by Blossom Hill School to throw out the ceremonial first pitch. Actually, Forest threw four 'first' pitches to catchers from each of the league's four divisions—Alyssa Organ, 8 and under; Sarah Van Belleghem, 10 and under; Greta Wicht, 12 and under; and Jamie Ozimek, 14 and under. The softball regular season runs from March until the end of May, with games at Blossom Hill School in Los Gatos and Foothill School in Saratoga.
