Students get taste of military training

The Marines have landed at Westmont High School—the junior Marines, that is. About 60 students, many from Los Gatos and Saratoga, put on their official uniforms two times a week and get a feel for military life along with solid teaching on good citizenship and nationalism.  More

LGUSD layoffs Jason Hemmes Mental health clinic
The Los Gatos Union School District has approved the elimination of 22 classified staff positions in addition to the layoffs of certificated staff, upsetting some in the community.  More A Los Gatos soccer coach is back in custody after violating a judge's orders and maintaining the relationship with a teenage girl that landed him in jail in the first place.  More The possible closure of a mental health clinic in Los Gatos could lead to the transfer of more than 200 clients and staff members to another facility in San Jose.  More

Service fees increase WVC-Mission layoffs Safe ride home
Following a recent town council vote, residents will see an increase in certain town service fees as of July 7.  More In a move that they called a "leap of faith," officials of the West Valley­Mission Community College District voted to rescind the last of the 61 layoff notices that they had sent to full-time faculty in March.  More A group of dedicated teens is making sure that their peers always have a safe way to get home—through the newly formed Safe Rides program.  More
