Wildcats advance

The Los Gatos boys volleyball team beat Willow Glen and Aptos last week to advance to the Central Coast Section semifinals.

Shaun Sullivan drilled 12 kills to lead the Cats past Willow Glen 15-9, 15-10, 15-1 to open the playoffs. Fletcher Anderson supported with

10 kills, Mike Robards and Sam Moisenco added six apiece and Drew McDowell had three.

Casey Pfeifer, who led the team with 28 assists, had a team-high 13 digs. Robards finished the match 12 digs, Anderson six and Sullivan five. Anderson and Moisenco had six blocks apiece and McDowell had five. Anderson finished three service aces.

The Wildcats came back with a hard-earned 16-14, 15-6, 13-15, 5-15, 15-6 win over Aptos.


Cats in playoffs

Derek Thomas and Alex Rollin each tossed complete game victories last week as the Los Gatos baseball team beat Gunn 5-2 and Milpitas 8-2 to clinch a CCS Division II playoff berth.

Thomas flipped a three-hitter for the win over the Titans, and Rollin fired a 3-hitter against the Trojans.

The Wildcats finished league play at 11-7 and will take a 16-12 record into the playoffs this week against Los Altos (18-11). The Cats will host the Eagles on May 22, 4 p.m.


LG girls in CCS

The Los Gatos girls softball team wrapped up the De Anza Division season with an 11-1 win over Monta Vista on a three-hitter by Melissa Mullins. The right hander is now 16-11 for the year and so are the Wildcats as they head into the CCS Division II playoffs.

The Wildcats open the playoffs against Presentation (17-7-1) on May 22, 7 p.m., at PAL Stadium.
