Solar panels Monte Sereno events Jason Hemmes
In keeping with the town's architectural standards, the planning commission last week refused to allow Akeena Solar to install solar panels on its rooftop without screening that would hide the panels from the street.  More With thinly veiled references to a specific property within city limits, the Monte Sereno City Council recently debated the definition and regulations for special events that would apply to all residents.  More Two teenage girls recently took the stand to testify on child molestation charges filed against a Los Gatos soccer coach.  More

Santa Cruz Avenue Senior housing Turnaround students
Recent street work on Santa Cruz Avenue just north of Petticoat Lane drew responses from merchants that were less harsh than comments the town had received several weeks ago, when it closed off portions of the street further south.  More A Los Gatos housing complex in danger of permanently losing its senior status has some residents fearing that the place where they had planned to retire will soon be overrun with young tenants who won't respect the present peace in the community.  More Ten high school seniors in the Los Gatos-Saratoga Union High School District were recently awarded $1,000 scholarships from the Los Gatos Kiwanis Club for turning around their academic careers.  More
