As the sun begins to sizzle, taste buds begin to tingle. So what better way to beat the heat while being a hip cat on the street than by visiting local venues sporting fun ways to mix food and frolic?
Dip into the Los Gatos Brewing Company for a real treat—getting served by the Los GatosMonte Sereno Police Department! While dishing up frosty brews and hearty food, the cops earn tips that are donated to the Special Olympics and their athletes. Stop by between 5 and 9 p.m. on June 4 or make reservations for a table by calling 408.395.9929. The brewing company is located at 130 N. Santa Cruz Ave.
If you'd rather serve yourself, check out the new class listings at Sur La Table in the Old Town Center. Sweet and savory sauces make for quite a delectable day on June 15 at 11 a.m., with dishes such as grilled pork with peach ginger sauce and cherry vanilla ice cream with cherry sauce. On June 17 at 6:30 p.m., Thai comes alive with barbecue lemongrass chicken, mango salad with popcorn shrimp and Thai cupcakes. Register at the store or by calling 408.395.6946.
The Wine Cellar and the Los Gatos Coffee Roasting Company are also getting their paws into the mix, but in a different way than usual. The two businesses are sponsoring a classical violin concert by Rhys Buchele, a Los Gatos grad who went on to study violin performance at Julliard, Eastman, the Manhattan School of Music and USC Thornton School of Music. He has played throughout the United States and Germany and will now perform for Los Gatos on June 7 at 8 p.m. at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 20 University Ave., in Old Town Los Gatos. Tickets are $25 and are available at the door or in advance at St. Luke's.
