Cherie Rose, who has been selling opulent furnishings for nearly 12 years through The Rose Collection, has just unveiled her latest love—Thai silk bedding made exclusively for her store.
After a year of planning, The Rose Collection is up and running with its new collection, made entirely out of hand-woven Thai silk. The line features fabrics exclusive to her company which sourced out to different Thai factories that specialize in a specific art, whether it is hand-woven material, detailed embroidery or hand-painted pillows.
"In Thailand, it's about the sensuality and the feeling of home," Rose says. "It is so spiritual; there is a sense of feeling and well-being. It makes sense to bring feel-good colors to the bedroom."
To create this sense of sensuality with relaxation, Rose paired up rich colors with mixed textures for an original set of five decor themes, all displayed in a small showroom adjoining the main floor of her store.
"Environment" is very modern, in grays and neutrals with fur and feather accents and trims. "Tranquility" is a glamorous, shimmering copper and berry bronze inlaid with embroidered dragonflies. "Harmony" is a subdued but rich collection of champagne and platinum damask and stripes, while "Serenity" is a romantic silk jacquard print in topaz, green and gold. For the kids, Rose dreamed up "Spirit," an energetic and playful mix of bright plaids with swirling colors of apricot, pistachio, mint green and soft yellow. Although choosing silk for a children's room wouldn't ordinarily seem common-sensical, Rose says Thai silk is actually extremely durable and washable, due to the way it is woven. It is so durable, in fact, that she is creating silk-covered floor pillows to accent each bedding collection.
After a year of preparation and planning, Rose is excited that the line has finally launched, and even more so for the environment she hopes to create for her patrons.
"You want the feeling of retreat, to have a place to go and relax when you come home," Rose says. "Some people find comfort in lots of color; some want something more simple—which is why we designed a range of colors. Just a little bit of everything for everybody."
The Rose Collection is located at 155 N. Santa Cruz Ave. in Los Gatos.
