Put down the lollipops and get your sugar fix in a much more fun way with The All Girl Summer Fun Band.
This emerging Portland foursome is embarking on its first tour to promote its second album, 2, which includes a one night stopover at Los Gatos' Outhouse on June 28 at 7 p.m. Check 'em out, because these gals certainly dish up some tasty pop-coated melodies loaded with '60s-esque harmonies, gruff guitar riffs, and sweet-lipped, tongue-in-cheek lyrics.
Also appearing will be The Thermals, Triple Nipple and Zebra Attack. Tickets are $6 at the door. The Outhouse is located at 4 New York Ave., behind the Los Gatos High School football field.
The high school will be home to another happenin' music fest on July 3, when the Town Follies grace the stage at the Prentiss Brown Auditorium at 8 p.m. From skits to song and dance numbers, there will be nearly 20 acts performing—but whether they're any good is another matter entirely. Well known townspeople (did this cat hear the names Sandy Decker, Barry Bakken, Scott Downs, and, wait-a-minute—LG Weekly-Times editor Dick Sparrer?) will be hamming it up to support the Theater Improvement Project program, sponsored by the New Millennium Foundation. The project aims to raise money for upgrades to the theater that cost beyond the scope of bond improvement money slated to be given in 2004. Tickets will be sold at the door for $25 general admission and $50 for reserved seats.
