Get ready for those shoulders to shimmy and toes to tap as a day of music moseys into Los Gatos on July 13.

Beginning at 5 p.m. on the civic center lawn, San Francisco-based salsa band Candela will whip up a tingling assortment of Latin rhythms, including bolero, meringue, timba and cha-cha. The nine-piece band also dips into instrumental Latin jazz, mixing contemporary sounds with traditional salsa beats.

In addition to recording two albums, Candela has performed throughout California and in several festivals in Cuba and Guam. As part of Music in the Park, the show is free of charge.

With Candela's performance winding down at 7 p.m., classical enthusiasts should change direction along with the style of music and head to St. Luke's Episcopal Church at 20 University Ave. This is where lyric soprano Rosa Lamoreaux will perform as part of the annual Sunset Series at St. Luke's. Lamoreaux is known for her versatile voice and engaging presence while covering a mixed repertoire, from Bach to Bernstein.

Lamoreaux has performed throughout the world and is an active chamber music performer, participating in the Vocal Arts Quartet and Hesperus, a group that performs music of the Spanish renaissance, baroque South America and France, and medieval Eastern Europe.

Tickets are $20 for adults, $12 for seniors and students, and may be purchased by calling 408.354.4560.

Before July 31, check out the one-man art show by Los Gatos resident Riki Nelson at Borders Café Espresso. The exhibit, entitled " Oceanscapes ," features original oil paintings depicting images of the coast. Borders is located at 50 University Ave.
