Kiyoshi Shiroyama
Kiyoshi Shiroyama died on June 30 in Los Gatos. He was 88.
Born on June 3, 1915, in Los Angeles, Shiroyama grew up in Japan. Upon returning to the United States, he worked in the fishing industry in California before attending the University of Minnesota, where he received a pharmacy degree.
Shiroyama later returned to Japan, working as a civil service accountant for the U.S. Army in both Japan and Korea. He received a commander's award when he retired from the Army in 1984. In 1997, Shiroyama moved to Los Gatos, where he lived until his death.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Hatsue, daughter Chikako, son Brian and daughter-in-law Jane, and two grandchildren.
Services have been held.
Robert Walker
Robert Woodbury Walker died June 29 in Turlock, Calif. He was 76.
Born in Los Gatos on April 15, 1927, Walker was the great-grandson of Robert Walker, who established himself in Los Gatos when he settled on 400 acres in 1873. Robert Woodbury Walker was the fourth of eight children born on the original family holdings in Los Gatos.
For most of his life, Walker was a painting contractor in Santa Clara County and various parts of Oregon but eventually settled in Fresno.
He is survived by his wife, Jean; daughters Dr. Marjorie Walker of Turlock, Linda Walker Lacey of Cupertino and Claudia Walker of Mountain View; sons Robert W. Walker Jr. of Upland and Michael Walker of Sacramento; sister Evelyn Walker of Morgan Hill; brother George Walker of Milpitas; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
