Embracing alternatives to underage drinking while keeping community spirit strong, local teens have organized a full summer music series to benefit the Alive ... and Loving Life effort, which was created after Los Gatos High School student Eric Quesada died following an alcohol-related car accident.
Until Aug. 28, performances will be held at the Old Town Amphitheater every Thursday from 7 to 10 p.m., and until Aug. 25, shows will be held every Monday from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Blossom Hill Starbucks. The July 31 show features New Best Friend and singer and guitarist Kyle Goodison. Bands performing in August include the Fisher Five, My Former Self and the Basics. Aug. 3 will be a busy day for Los Gatos as the Art Museum of Los Gatos hosts a public reception for Richard Knight and his new exhibit featuring freestanding metal sculpture. The reception will be held from 1 to 4 p.m., and the exhibit will be up until Sept. 26. The museum is located at 4 Tait Ave. in downtown Los Gatos.
Concordia College of Moorhead, Minn. is also getting into the action on Aug. 3 with a Cobber Corn Feed at 12:30 p.m. at Oak Meadow Park. The college will provide free corn, butter, salt and napkins so families can dig in and enjoy the tradition. Reserve a spot by Aug. 1 by calling Anthony and Nicole at 408.605.0032.
Festivities continue that day as Music in the Park features Sidesaddle & Co. from 5 to 7 p.m. on the Los Gatos Civic Center lawn. Sidesaddle & Co. will get the evening off to a smokin' start with its blend of vintage country & western and bluegrass.
