Art, art, and more art fairly sums up the coming weeks in downtown Los Gatos.
For a fill of oil paintings depicting lush landscapes, check out the exhibit by John Robert Peck at Twenty Nine East Main Street in downtown. Peck's show features 22 paintings created in Cortona, Italy, during the winter and spring of 2003 and will be up through September.
The world-traveling lifestyle has also appealed to Janet Wolf, who presents a collection of her photographs at Borders Bookstore Café in Old Town through Aug. 31. Entitled "Visions of our world ... the beauty of faces and places," the show splashes with color and cultural flair.
Highlighting tension between objects, such as pitting egg yolks versus rusty nails, Mabel Tang has brought her photography skills to the Art Museum of Los Gatos. Visit the show through Sept. 26 at the museum, located on 4 Tait Ave.
Jazz on the Plazz continues to bring sweet jazz stylings to music-craving residents. Singer and sax man Danny Hull performs on Aug. 20, while Kim Nalley pulls out the stops on Aug. 27 with her scintillating combination of blues and jazz sprinkled with a touch of swing. Each show will be from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Los Gatos Town Plaza.
The Alive ... and Loving Life shows continue through the last leg of summer, with Fisher Five, Serena B., and the Basics playing at the Old Town Amphitheater on Aug. 21 from 7 to 10 p.m. On Aug. 28, the Basics open up the 7 p.m. show, followed by Nothing Special and a special closeout performance by Latin band Los Wavones at 9 p.m.
