Hockey stars
Bailey Richardson of Los Gatos and Katie Sang of Cupertino were among three area field hockey players picked to play in the 2003 Junior Olympics in Ann Arbor, Mich., July 27Aug. 2.
Katie Sang of Los Altos played for the Orange team that finished first at the Junior Olympics. Richardson's Gold team placed fifth and Sang's Navy team was eighth.
The girls were selected for the Junior Olympics after playing in the national field hockey tournament in Virginia.
Quito fall ball
The Quito Little League will hold final registration for the 2003 fall ball season on Aug. 23, 911:30 a.m., at the league's major division field at Rolling Hills Middle School. The season runs from Sept. 14 through Nov. 16 with games on Sunday afternoon in the major and minor divisions. The cost is $50 per player, and youngsters must provide a copy of their birth certificate at the registration. For more information, call 408.374.3154.
Play For a Cure
The Play for a Cure Foundation will host its third annual round robin tennis tournament to benefit breast cancer research and the Women's Healthy Eating and Living study conducted at Stanford Medical Clinic. The 2002 Charity Event of the Year, as voted on by The United States Professional Tennis Association, will return to the Los Gatos Swim and Racquet Club on Sept. 5 from 5-9 p.m.
Players of all levels are welcome and are asked to raise $150 in order to play. Sponsors who wish to join in the fun but not play can do so by donating $25. For more information visit http://www.playforacure.org.
