Clarence Thomas and Virginia Joyce Hasty celebrated 50 years of marriage with a family party at their home on Aug. 9.

The couple was first wed in Reno, Nev., on Oct. 28, 1953, and has been living in Monte Sereno since 1968.

After working at the Ampex Corporation for 26 years, Clarence retired from the company, while Virginia has owned Ginger's Custom Designs since the 1980s. The pair has five children—Karyn, Thomas, Matthew, Laura, and Joseph—who coordinated the celebration, as well as eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
