Elwin Paige Gilkey died at his home in Congress, Ariz., on Sept. 12. He was 75.

Born in Los Gatos to Winfield and Ellen Gilkey, he was a graduate of Los Gatos High School. After finishing school he joined the Merchant Marines and later the U.S. Marine Corps. He enjoyed mining, prospecting and treasure hunting.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law David and Holly Gilkey of Ft. Collins, Colo.; daughters Linda Evans of Raton, N.M., and Karrlee Thomas of Modesto; brother and sister-in-law Grendon Scott Gilkey and Jeanne Gilkey of Folsom; and five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A memorial tribute is planned for a later date.
