In support of October as breast cancer awareness month, Sur La Table is hooking up with appliance company KitchenAid and Bon Appétit magazine to raise much-needed funds for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
Named "America's Chefs Cook for the Cure," the two-hour fundraising event will tour throughout Sur La Table stores in America. On Oct. 16 from 6 to 8 p.m., Los Gatos will host its own rendition at Sur La Table, located on University Avenue, welcoming five well-known and respected chefs from local establishments.
The fundraising event will provide guests a chance to mingle with chefs and sample delicious dishes from their different restaurants.
Representatives from Wente Vineyards will also be on hand to deliver samples, as will the Republic of Tea. The chefs selected for the event are Brian Barry of Steamer's Grillhouse, Jim Stump of A.P. Stump's , Pascal Janvier of Fleur de Cocoa, David Kinch of Manresa Restaurant, and Kimball Jones of Wente Vineyards.
Tickets are $25, available at Sur La Table or by calling 888.478.7900.
Those dealing with breast cancer in their own lives can find support and education at New Beginnings, a support group for newly diagnosed patients and survivors.
The group is sponsored by the Good Samaritan Breast Care Center, located at 15400 National Ave., Suite 200, San Jose, and meets the second Monday of each month from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
