Pop Warner wins
Will Sparks scored three touchdowns and Kyle Miller threw for two TDs to lead the Panthers of Los Gatos Pop Warner Football to a rousing 30-0 victory over the Daly City Titans.
Miller, who hooked up on 11 of 24 passes for just under 150 yards, tossed to Sparks for one touchdown and to Brandon Webster for another. Sparks also had a 55-yard punt return for a score.
Daniel Chou and Josh Ajlouni also ran well behind the offense line of Matt Nicora, Michael Combs, Andrew Berg, and Jake Boetcher.
The defense recorded its third shutout of the year, holding the Titans to only four first downs. Leading the effort were Chase Hayherst, Carter Krach, Ross Kundtz, Joey Vizuzzi, Michael Spork, Anthony Frediani, Josh Ajlouni, and Daniel Ajlouni.
The Tigers, meanwhile, evened their record at 2-2 with a tight 20-18 win over Daly City.
Cory McDowell carried 10 times for 80 yards and scored all three of his team's touchdowns. He scored on runs of 50 and 30 yards, and he also returned a fumble five yards for a score.
Cory McDowell completed one of his two pass attempts, a 16-yarder to Garrett Irizarry. Irizarry also ran in for two extra points.
Leading the defensive effort for the Tigers were Ricky Hastie, Brian Houp, Irizarry, McDowell and Hayden Senter, who were each in on nine tackles.
Cam Hashemi, McDowell, Houp and Senter each sacked the Daly City quarterback, Ricky Hastie recovered a fumble, Forrest Groth blocked a punt and Finn Robertson recovered an attempted onside kick.
The offensive line was led by Jason Mehta, Zach Marcus, Matt Gault, Connor Robinson, Nick Caminada, Mike Martinyak and Steve Figone.
