While Los Gatos kiddies are beginning to dream of costumes and candy, parents are busy carving pumpkins, buying trick-or-treat bags, and, most importantly, deciding where to take the family on Halloween.
This year's celebration should be a scream, given it lands on a Friday night. As such, several venues are already gearing up for the festivities and are ready to get the word out.
Oak Meadow Park is putting its ghosts and goblins in place for the annual Haunted Forest Walking Tour, sponsored by the Los GatosMonte Sereno Police Foundation.
Tours will begin at 7 p.m. on Oct. 24, 25, 26, 30, and 31. Tickets are $9 for adults, $6 for children 12 and under, and $4 for the spooky hollow and carousel trick-or-treat tour. Tickets may be purchased at the park or in advance at the Collector's Corner, located on 481 N. Santa Cruz Ave. For more information, call 408.354.6842 or visit www.hauntedforest.org.
Those taking a more daring approach to the night of fright can head to Los Gatos Memorial Park on Oct. 31 at 8 p.m., where Sue Bruce will lead a two-hour flashlight tour of the cemetery. Tickets are $15 per person. For more information, call 408.921.5333. To book a reservation, call 408.323.5333. The memorial park is located at 2255 Los GatosAlmaden Road.
The Zone at Fisher Middle School is also getting in the mix with "Scream Fest 2003," featuring a haunted house and goodies galore on Oct. 30 and 31 from 7 to 10 p.m. Tickets are $5 per person. The festival will be held on the corner of Nino and Fisher avenues. For more information, call 408.314.8184.
