Pumpkin squashes the competition
For the second year in a row, a group of Daves Avenue residents competed in a fierce pumpkin-growing competition. Catherine Helm took first place with her impressive 234-pound orange behemoth. She also grew three other pumpkins that each weighed more than 200 pounds. Second runner-up was Nick Hendig, with a 140-pound pumpkin, and third place went to Sean Lindecker, with an 82-pounder. After the final weighing and a party hosted by the last-place finisher, the pumpkins are now ready to be carved and put on display for Halloween.
