Town reviews
modifications
to Sobrato
The Los Gatos Planning Commission plans to hold a public hearing Oct. 22 to review proposed changes to the Sobrato Development project on Winchester Boulevard near Highway 85—one of the largest development projects in town.
Sobrato now proposes to scale back the size of its office buildings and increase the number of apartment units, including the number of affordable units for low-income tenants.
The meeting starts at
7 p.m. in the Los Gatos Town Council chambers at 110 E. Main St.
Music in the
Park to stay
at civic center
After more than half a year of debate over where to hold Music in the Park, the Los Gatos Town Council voted to keep it on the civic center lawn, where it's been held the past two seasons.
According to organizers, survey results show that more people prefer the civic center to the town plaza, where it had been held for 14 years prior to the move. The event was moved during the Town Plaza renovation.
Those who prefer the civic center said the lawn is more spacious and less noisy.
Town resident John Tice, who spearheaded a movement to relocate the concert back to the plaza, made a final plea to the council to allow half of next year's concerts to be staged at the plaza.
But the council chose unanimously to keep it at the civic center.
"At this point, there's no question that we found the right location," said Councilman Joe Pirzynski.
