Trail connects Los Gatos with the Almaden Valley
Representatives of the Bay Area Ridge Trail Council, Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District and Santa Clara County Parks and Recreation Department joined with community members and leaders recently for a dedication worthy of celebration.
The groups and individuals met Oct. 25 for a dedication ceremony of the Woods, Kennedy and Priest Rock Trails—an 11.8-mile Bay Area Ridge Trail segment—located in the Sierra Azul Open Space Preserve and Lexington Reservoir County Park.
The three-trail segment provides a connection between Almaden Quicksilver and Lexington Reservoir county parks. It is the last link in a 17.9-mile section of the Bay Area Ridge Trail between the Almaden Valley and the Town of Los Gatos.
Hikers, bicyclists and equestrians can enjoy spectacular views of Mount Umunhum as well as varied environmental areas, according to Kristi Webb of the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District. Leashed dogs are also allowed on the Kennedy and Priest Rock Trails, as well as on the neighboring Limekiln Trail. Webb said the Bay Area Ridge Trail, when complete, will be a continuous 400-plus mile, multiuse trail around San Francisco Bay along the ridgelines. Reservoir Road
hearing moved
to Dec. 1

Original plans were to hold a public hearing Nov. 17, but town staff and the water company need more time to analyze issues that have been raised. For information, call the planning department at 408.354.6872.
