Time is running out to become part of history and enter the 47th annual Children's Christmas and Holiday Parade. The deadline is Nov. 14 at 4 p.m. for those wishing to inspire holiday spirit while tooling through downtown in a decorated car, float, or truck—just no limos or dressing up like Santa. The parade will be held Dec. 6, beginning at 11 a.m. Obtain and return entries at 123 E. Main St., Los Gatos, 95030. For more information call Susan at the recreation center at 408.354.8700 ext. 250.

If you've got the float plans down, but are still pondering what dishes to serve for the holidays, then it's a good idea to attend the Friends of Los Gatos Library Friday forum on Nov. 14 as food and entertaining guru Lois Levine makes an appearance.

The author of 10 books on food and entertaining, Levine has just released her latest title, the New Elegant But Easy Cookbook. The second edition of her widely loved first book, it will be available for purchase and signature before and after the presentation. Levine will not only speak about cooking and entertaining in California, but will give advice on writing and publishing as well. The event will be held Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. at the Los Gatos town council chambers, 110 E. Main St.

South Bay arts organizations will also be getting into a festive spirit as they receive news that the Los Gatos Art Cat project was a huge success—$46,000 of success to be exact.

Funds were raised through 50 community sponsors hosting an artistically decorated fiberglass feline, which was on display for several weeks. The cats were then placed on auction at the Lyndon Bandstand grand opening Sept. 6.

Proceeds will go to a variety of art-related projects, including $10,000 to the Los Gatos Arts Commission, $5,000 to the Los Gatos Art Association, $5,000 to Los Gatos elementary schools for jazz workshops, and $5,000 to the Los Gatos High School Theater Improvement Project. The Art Cat Committee will formally announce the division of proceeds at a special reception at the Los Gatos town council chambers on Nov. 13 from 4:30 to 6 p.m.
